Health Promotion Forum of New Zealand Runanga Whakapiki Ake i te Hauora o Aotearoa
Hauora Everyones Right
Hauora, Everyones Right 2009
Wednesday 15 and Thursday 16 July 2009
Brentwood Hotel, 16 Kemp St, Kilbirnie, Wellington
"If ever we believed that Aotearoa was protected from crises in foreign countries, the economic recession over the past few months has dispelled all notions of immunity. Our health is not only subject to follies of our own making, but also to new forces that reach us from distant shores. Global warming, global inequalities in standards of health and education, global colonisation that challenges our Kiwi ways of living, and now the global recession, threaten to leave their marks on families, whanau and communities. While we must act to avoid the worst consequences of those forces we should also take steps to turn around those aspects of globalisation that are incompatible with our health and the health of others across the globe. "Hauora - everyone's right 2009" provides a unique opportunity to formulate an agenda for health that will be relevant to us, to the world, and to future generations."
