Action for Children and Youth Aotearoa (ACYA)

Child Rights New Zealand. The Organisation consists of a coalition of non-government organisations, families and individuals who aim to promote the well-being of Children in Aotearoa. Focus on the education and advocacy for children's rights and aim to encourage government to work in line with the recommendations made in UNCROC. ACYA

A national organisation set up as a charitable trust which aims is to raise public awareness about new findings in brain research and to educate the importance of early experiences on infant brain development. Centre for Research on Children and Families (Otago University)

The Centre is focused on establishing as national interdisciplinary forum for research into and discussion of children's issues, as well as supplying resources and information to those involved with children. Children's Commissioner

The Office of the Children's Commissioner aims to ensure the full recognition of rights of all children and young people in NZ and that they are guaranteed good health, wellbeing, education and safety. The office works with both government and NGOs to promote the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and through the use of a Young People's reference group maintains a service which works alongside young people in the community. CYFs focuses on promoting the safety and well-being of children through support for positive parenting. CYFs is a service of the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), and is part of a network of agencies aiming to build an environment and society free of child abuse. CYFs

CPS is a national charitable trust, dedicated to preventing harm and violence to children in New Zealand. As a strong advocate for the rights of children, CPS promotes, encourages and supports prevention activities and efforts at the local and national level, through individual and community programmes. Counties Manukau DHB (CMDHB)

Responsible for a large part of the Auckland area CMDHB has one of the largest population of young people across all DHBs in New Zealand, with 25 percent of it's population group aged 14 or under with 13 percent of New Zealand's children living in the region. A child advocacy organisation formed by a coalition of Barnardos, Plunket, UNICEF, Save the Children, and the Institute of Public Policy at AUT which strives to make change four vital areas around child health and well-being: putting children and families at the centre of policy and planning, ensuring all children get a good start in the early years, reducing child abuse and neglect, and ending child poverty. ECPAT New Zealand: End Child Prostitution, Child Pornography and Trafficking of Children for Sexual Purposes

EPOCH New Zealand

A small charitable trust formed in 1997. It has advocated for law change for over ten years engaging support for law reform from various non-governmental organisations which advocate for the rights of children or deliver services to children. EPOCH NZ developed and maintained a network of organisations supportive of positive non-violent child discipline and repeal of s59 of the Crimes Act 1961. EPOCH

Maori SIDS

The Maori SIDS programme located at the School of Population Health at Auckland University was launched in 1994 and aims to deleiver national and regional services with a focus on assisting whanau, health professionals and communities to reduce the incidence of SIDS and SUDI (Sudden Unexpected Deaths in Infancy). Maori SIDs

Ministry of Health - Manatu Hauora

As the primary advisor to the government on health and disability the Ministry strives to ensure that the health and disability support system works for all New Zealanders. The ministry also seeks to reduce inequalities in health through policy initiatives and funding other organisations in the sector. MoH

National Heart Foundation

This non-for profit, NGO funds research and promotes heart health in a effort to reduce rates of cardiovascular disease. The NHF works in the community among children and families through projects such as jump rope for health, and the school food programme to ensure heart health begins at an early age and also provides information relevant to child nutrition on the site. New Zealand Aotearoa Adolescent Health and Development (NZAAHD)

NZAAHD was founded in 1989 with the vision to promote the health and development of young people by support organisations which work in adolescent health. NZAAHD connects organisations and provides them a voice to government about issues affecting them and young people. NZAAHD

Safe Kids NZ

This is the injury prevention service for Starship's Children's Health Foundation. Also a member of SAFE KIDS worldwide. Aim to reduce the incidence of unintentional injuries in NZ (ages 0-14) through the use of projects and media releases targeted at both parents and children. Safe Kids

Global independent organisation which aims to ‘fight for children's rights'. Services and support go from immediate relief to longer-term development in an effort to create a world which places children at the forefront and respects and addresses their rights. Save the Children

SIDS NZ Incorporated

Nationally established organisation which offers important information on sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and provides services and support to families and communities who experience the loss of a child due to any circumstance. SIDs

Skylight

Provides support and resources for professionals and community groups working with children and youth suffering from sudden loss, grief and/or trauma. Five main areas of focus include: programme development for children and youth, social work support and counselling for children and their families, parenting programmes, group learning programmes and localised community development initiatives. Unicef

The NZ branch of the global organisation focus both at the international and domestic level. The Every Child Counts (ECC) collaboration, uniting Barnados, Plunket, UNICEF, Save the Children, and the Institute of Public Policy at AUT, works to educate politicians, the corporate world and the general public about political and community actions that will better support children and their families. Well child services: Well Child Tamariki Ora Framework

This framework covers screening, education and support services offered free to all New Zealand children from birth to five years, and their families. Well Child services offer resources in 12 areas include health education and promotion, health protection and clinical assessment, and family support. Framework

Youth 2000

NZ Youth - A profile of their health and well-being. Site contains results from from the National Survey of the Health and Wellbeing of New Zealand Secondary School Students for both 2001 and 2007. Information about the Youth health status in NZ on the site is relevant to health professionals, parents, school and youth and refers to topics including violence, non-heterosexual health, alcohol and Maori and Asian health profiles for adolescents. Youthline is a youth development organisation which works at regional level. As a community-orientated service provider Youthline acts as the first point of contact for youth to access services and support. Its core services include; counselling, training, youth worker services and community development. URGE is a section within the site which offers information on alcohol, sex, drugs, body image and more. Youthline

World Health Organisation: Child & Adolescent Health Development

The department of child and adolescent health development (CAH) target the fundamental rights of child and adolescents at a global level to promote the survival, health, growth and development of children and adolescents from birth to age 19 years. Their work is prioritized according to the total "burden" of a problem in countries, and whether or not there are effective and affordable interventions to address it. Child & Adolescent Health
